Whilst it's entirely possible to 'just throw a bit of paint on that wall / door / floor or cat, the key to making it last, to getting smooth results, to make it worthwhile is surface prep.

Yes, without doubt it takes time, but it really is the only way to do it, if you want to do it properly.

It's the same with wallpapering - anything less than a fully prepared surface, and you'll end up with something resembling the surface of the moon, and quite possibly, edges or corners that just won't stick down properly.

Do the job properly, and do it once.
